Bucket Bundie Boosts Efficiency and Safety at SRC Aggregates

Sewells Reservoir Construction Ltd, trading as SRC Aggregates, is a respected, independent, family-run business specialising in sustainable aggregate solutions. With a strong presence across the construction and recycling sectors, SRC operates state-of-the-art recycling equipment, offering waste disposal services for inert, non-hazardous, and hazardous materials.

To further improve operational efficiency and safety, SRC recently added two Bucket Bundie Fuel Bowsers to their fleet. These innovative units were supplied by Ace Plant, a leading manufacturer and supplier of fuel storage solutions and dust suppression equipment across the UK.

About the Bucket Bundie Fuel Bowser

Ace Plant, headquartered in Milton Keynes, is home to the well-regarded ‘Bundie Bowser’ fuel storage range. Leveraging their deep engineering expertise, Ace Plant designs and manufactures practical solutions for both fuel management and dust control. Our Bucket Bundie Store, based on the same core concept as the patented Bucket Bundie Fuel Bowser, was recently shortlisted in the Institute of Quarrying’s Excellence Awards for innovation and knowledge, a testament to the quality and ingenuity behind the Bundie Bowser brand.

Why SRC Chose the Bucket Bundie

Before switching to the Bucket Bundie, SRC relied on static fuel tanks that had to be manually moved around site using drop chains or towed mobile units—a process that was time-consuming and posed safety risks.

After discovering the Bucket Bundie on our website, Brett Hallworth, Plant Manager at SRC, recognised its potential to transform their on-site fueling process. The Bucket Bundie Fuel Bowser allows for fast, simple, and safer fuel delivery to crushers and other heavy plant equipment. By eliminating the need for chains and enabling the operator to remain inside the machine cab, the Bucket Bundie significantly enhances site safety and productivity.

“The operator can simply drive into the specially shaped lift legs, re-position the bowser, and continue with the job in hand—without ever leaving the cab,” said Brett.

On-Site Applications and Benefits

One unit is currently deployed at Martell’s Quarry near Colchester, while the second supports operations at SRC’s crushing and recycling depot in East London. According to Brett:

“Having the two units on different types of applications has shown there are clear safety, time, and cost benefits to using the Bucket Bundie Bowser.”

SRC also appreciated the option to custom-paint the units in their corporate colours—at no extra cost—helping maintain a consistent fleet appearance.

Bucket Bundie Bowser: Models and Future Development

The Bucket Bundie Bowser is available in three capacities:

  • 450L
  • 1000L
  • 2250L

SRC opted for the 2250L model, providing ample capacity for high-demand fueling operations.

Looking ahead, the next innovation in the Bucket Bundie range is the ability to deliver both Diesel and AdBlue simultaneously, a feature already available in other Bundie models, such as the site tow, road tow, and static bowsers, and soon to be incorporated into the Bucket Bundie range.
